Hiking Essentials Checklist

 

   You want to explore the peaceful nature, and go deep into the mountains with friends, family or even by yourself. You have some important things to pack before going on this exciting adventure.

 

In this article, we’re gonna give you a list of important essentials to bring for a hike.

 

  After checking the weather and leveling up the stroke, it's time to get ready. The only problem is packing your hiking essentials for the day to make sure you are safe and comfortable on the way. So here is a list of essentials you need:

 

1- Daypack

   About the size, you need a robust pack that ranges from 25 to 35 liters, with interior and exterior pockets, a hip belt to balance the weight of the pack and a sternum strap which prevents the pack from moving a lot while hiking. And don’t forget the sunglasses and the helmet.

 

2- Hiking boots:

   This is a very important one too,you need a very strong and comfortable pair of boots and socks that can handle whatever surface or area you’re hiking in.

 

3- Map / Navigational Tools:

   You can have your Smartphone with you where you can find good apps to guide you on finding trails, but you can’t solely rely on your phone, it’s important to have a substitute tool to help you in case there is no wifi or network in the area you’re hiking in or your phone’s battery died. So to prevent yourself from getting lost and for safety concerns you’ll need a waterproof and tear-proof map and a compass (help yourself with a guide for using these tools if it’s your first time).

 

4- Lots of Water:

      For hiking, your body will need lots of water to function properly as you’ll have to put in some extra effort. stay hydrated to avoid dehydration or sickness.

 

5- Energizing snacks:

   Maybe you can’t put an important quantity of food in your pack, that’s why you’ll need to add some energizing snacks to stay full and keep your energy up, fruits and veggies that won’t be squished in your pack too. The reason for having extra food is in case of emergencies.

 

6- First Aid Emergency Kit:

It’s important to invest in a small portable and lightweight first aid box.

 

7- A Flashlight or a Headlamp:

You’ll need a source of light in case you get caught in trail after getting dark.

 

8- A Multi-tool and mini repair kit:

   A mini repair kit will help you fix a torn backpack, loose trekking poles, broken straps or any other unforeseen issues that may arise during your stay. The contents of repair kits vary by product, but it's a good idea to have multi-purpose tools such as pocket knives, razor men, repair patches, safety pins, and handy duct tape.

 

9- Trekking poles:

A trekking pole is essential, especially if you’re a beginner it’s gonna be useful in challenging terrain.Trekking poles take the pressure off your knees, give you more power on the ups, and help maintain a rhythm while you’re hiking. 

 

10- Toilet paper:

You need to be prepared in case you want to use the bathroom, no matter how short the hike will be.
