Among its main monuments we mention the Bahia Palace, emblem of the elegance of Arab Moorish architecture, Badii Palace and the Saadian tombs which bear witness to the city's golden era, Dar el Bacha is an ancient palace and the place that encompasses all the heritage of the city, then the Madrasa Ben Youssef and the Koutoubia mosque which are places of worship and learning of several sciences.

To discover the history of Marrakech, we propose a half-day visit including an official guide and 3 monuments of your choice. The visit to the Koutoubia Mosque (from the outside) is automatically included with all choices.
If Dar el Bacha is among your choices, you have to reserve a vehicle at your disposal during the visit to facilitate displacement !

Options

The Bahia Palace

An early 19th century palace, built by the grand vizier of Sultan Moulay Abdelaziz who succeeded his father Sultan Hassan 1st at the age of 14.This grand vizier had powerful power, especially since he was very close to the young Sultan and was his most reliable person at the Royal Palace. Bahmad the grand vizier, therefore built his palace in the best district of the medina of the time, between the Jewish quarter and the Andalusian quarter on an area of more than 8 thousand square meters which respect the Andalusian Arab architecture and composed of several sections, visitors section, servants, ambassadors, the harem, the mosque and the Koranic school… A real example to describe the palaces of the time and especially a living example of Arab Andalusian architecture.

The Badii Palace

This palace was built in 1578 by Sultan Ahmed Al Mansour Eddahbi after he came to power and wanted to build a palace worthy of him and of the Marrakech city, the country's capital at the time and which extended to the country of Timbuktu where the big gold mines. Besides, this Sultan deployed a lot of gold in the construction of this Palace to the point of making rooms with walls covered with gold. According to historians, this palace was one of the wonders of the world of his time. Today there are only ruins left that bear witness to this mighty king.

The Saadian Tombs

A 14th century royal necropolis, was enlarged at the time of the Saadian dynasty in 16 century by Sultan Ahmed Al Mansour Eddahbi for the burial of his mother and then he and his three successors. This necropolis has remained protected and locked up since the end of the Saadian era and testifies at the richest time of the Kingdom of Morocco which did not leave much traces after its disappearance.

Meseum Dar el Bacha

Located in the heart of the medina of Marrakech, Dar El Bacha is considered one of the most beautiful palaces in this ocher city, built at the beginning of the 20th century in 1910, this palace was the residence of Thami El Glaoui, named Pasha of Marrakech by the Sultan Moulay Youssef in 1912.Today it houses the memory of the city of Marrakech with galleries of old photos and many other things. Free access for children under 12 years old. Open every day except tuesdays from 10 am. to 6 pm. 175, Arset Aouzal Rd, Medina

The ben Youssef medrassa

The medrassa was for more than four centuries a home for students thirsty for knowledge in various sciences, especially theology. It had 132 rooms intended for students not originating from Marrakech and could accommodate up to 900 students. Opposite the front door, on the other side of the rectangular basin, is the prayer hall, made up of three naves delimited by marble pillars supporting arches with chiseled facades of ornamental patterns...
